Behind the Scenes Operator Tour
11/15/13 Sweeney Elementary
The Power Patrol was led on a behind the scenes operator tour by Head Custodian Mr. Heller! Students saw how the computer maintains and adjusts room temperatures in the building. They also saw the boiler room and learned how it helps keep our school warm. Lastly, they learned about a ’crawl space’ upstairs that houses other pipes that keep our school operational. Thanks, Mr. Heller!
Vampire Hunt!

The Power Patrol went on a Vampire Hunt! They were in search of electronics that were plugged in but not being used. It was a fun challenge to find them in the school. We can all be reminded to try and make one small change this year to help reduce energy through this type of educational activity.

Brrr...it’s cold!
01/17/13 Sweeney Elementary
If you are feeling cold at school, first try wearing a sweater to save on energy. Staff and students should be comfortable but please keep in mind that when the custodians adjust the heat, it can affect the classrooms and space around it ...for better or for worse!
